The iProtect 1216 is a handheld DigiScan Labs RF detector for professional room and object inspections. Separate readings for three frequency bands help reveal suspicious radio activity and guide a systematic search for its source.

What does the iProtect 1216 detect?
It responds to analogue and digital radio transmissions within its frequency range: listening transmitters, transmitting wireless cameras, and mobile or wireless devices. A built-in directional microwave antenna serves the 3–12 GHz band.
Band 1: 50–700 MHz · Band 2: 700 MHz–3 GHz · Band 3: 3–12 GHz.
A systematic inspection in three steps
- Prepare the areaConnect the antenna and temporarily switch off known Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and mobile devices.
- Monitor all bandsSelect ALL BANDS and SILENT, AUDIO or ALARM. Adjust the alarm threshold to the local background.
- Locate the sourceWhen the level rises, select ONE BAND, observe the histogram and physically inspect the suspicious location.
Before starting an inspectionThe target must transmit an RF signal to be detected. Switched-off cameras, wired devices and recorders that only store locally cannot be found using this principle. Ordinary wireless devices also trigger a response; assess each source on site.

Does it detect listening bugs and wireless cameras?
Yes, when they transmit RF signals within 50 MHz–12 GHz. It detects radio activity; the source must be checked on site.
Can it find switched-off cameras or voice recorders?
No. RF detection requires a transmitted radio signal. Optical camera searches and checks for non-transmitting devices require other methods.
Why are there three separate bands?
They help distinguish activity in different frequency ranges. Strong background signals in one band have less impact on monitoring the others.
Does it detect Wi-Fi and Bluetooth?
Yes, their transmissions within the supported range. The second band covers 2.4 GHz activity and the third covers 5 GHz. A shared BT_WF signature may appear.
Does it display the exact frequency or device name?
It shows RF level by band and a possible signal type, such as GSM, 3G, DECT or BT_WF. It is not an exact-frequency spectrum analyser or a device address list.
How do the alarm and histogram work?
ALARM provides 48 threshold steps. In ONE BAND mode, the histogram displays the previous 5 seconds to help reveal brief or repeated transmissions.
What is the detection distance?
It depends on transmitter power and radio interference. The manufacturer recommends close inspection of objects; there is no single guaranteed distance for every device.
How long does the battery last and take to charge?
The manufacturer specifies up to 6 hours of operation and about 4 hours of USB charging. A Mini-USB charging cable is included.
