The LawMate RD-30 helps locate active radio transmitters, powered wired cameras and concealed lenses. Its pocket-sized body, simple switches and LED indication support a systematic check of rooms and objects.

What can the RD-30 detect?
RF mode searches for transmitting wireless audio and video devices within 20 MHz–6 GHz. Wired mode adds close-range scanning of powered wired electronics, while the optical finder helps locate a visible camera lens.
RF detection requires an active transmission; Wired scanning requires powered electronics. Optical detection requires a visible lens and a suitable viewing angle.
A systematic check in three steps
- Search for a radio signalSelect Wireless, extend the antenna and slowly scan the area while watching the LED bar.
- Narrow down the locationReduce sensitivity near a strong signal. Check wired electronics in Wired mode with the sensor as close as possible.
- Inspect the lens reflectionReturn to Wireless, select On or Blink and look through the eyepiece. Check a suspicious reflection from different angles.
When can a switched-off camera be found?The optical Finder Viewer can reveal the lens of a switched-off camera if the lens is visible. RF and Wired modes do not guarantee detection of unpowered electronics. Ordinary Wi-Fi and electrical devices can also trigger an indication, so inspect the source.

Frequently asked questions
How do the three search methods differ?
Wireless detects radio transmissions, Wired senses electromagnetic emissions from powered devices at close range, and Finder Viewer lets you search optically for a lens reflection. The methods complement each other.
Can it find a switched-off camera?
The optical finder can help reveal a switched-off camera’s lens if it is visible from a suitable angle. This is an optical search, not detection of an unpowered camera by RF or Wired mode.
How is Wired mode used?
Hold the sensor area as close as possible to a suspicious spot and observe the LED bar. The target device must be powered. Vibration and Finder Viewer are automatically disabled in this mode.
Can I search for a GPS tracker?
It can detect a tracker’s radio transmissions if they fall within the supported range and are strong enough. Receiving GPS satellite signals or storing positions in memory alone cannot be detected this way.
Why does it react to a router?
Wi-Fi is a radio signal, so an ordinary router can trigger the detector. Switch off known transmitters that are not needed for the check and compare readings. An indication alone does not prove covert surveillance.
When is vibration available?
Vibration provides discreet indication in Wireless mode. Switching to Wired mode automatically disables this function.
What powers it and how much does it weigh?
The RD-30 uses three AAA batteries. It measures 80 × 52 × 15.5 mm and weighs 74 g without batteries. The manufacturer does not specify a fixed runtime in these documents.
Does every optical reflection mean a camera?
No. Other shiny surfaces can also reflect light. Inspect the object from several angles. A lens hidden behind an opaque obstruction cannot be seen optically.
