Add protection to your confidential conversations
The DigiScan Labs MNG 300 Rabbler produces speech-like noise assembled from human conversation fragments. Placed close to the speakers, it helps mask their voices and reduce the intelligibility of speech captured by a microphone.
300–3600 Hzgenerated audio frequency range5–10 hoperation stated in the manual9 Vbattery powerSpeech masking Create a masking sound
The crowd-like signal overlaps with the conversation, making the recorded speech harder to understand.
Volume control Set the noise level
The LEVEL control and level indicator help set the volume. A microphone needs to receive more masking noise than speech.
Portable format Use it where you meet
The 85 × 53 × 21 mm unit is easy to bring to a meeting. Keep it uncovered and close to the speakers during use.
How does Rabbler help protect a conversation?
It works acoustically: its noise reaches the microphone of a recorder, phone or wired or wireless listening device alongside the speech. The result depends on the balance of noise and voice, microphone placement and room acoustics.
300–3600 Hz refers to audio frequencies. Rabbler does not block mobile or Wi-Fi connections and does not prevent video recording.
Conversation protection in three steps
- Sit closer togetherPlace the generator on the table between speakers, with the loudspeaker uncovered.
- Switch on the noiseTurn it on with POWER. The manufacturer recommends using the maximum volume.
- Keep your voice lowDo not raise your voice above the noise. Larger groups or several possible microphone locations may need additional generators.
What affects the masking result?Rabbler supplements other conversation protection measures. It cannot guarantee unintelligible speech for every microphone or room. Assess placement and noise level with a test recording under the conditions in which you plan to use it.

How does Rabbler work?
It produces audible speech-like noise. A microphone captures the noise alongside the conversation, making speech harder to understand when conditions are set appropriately.
Can people hear it operating?
Yes. Its 300–3600 Hz output is audible. Using it requires keeping your voice low and sitting closer to the other participants.
Does it switch off microphones or block phone connections?
No. Microphones may continue recording and phones can remain connected. Rabbler masks speech reaching a microphone; it does not stop video recording.
How many people can use one generator?
The manufacturer advises against relying on a single unit for more than 4 participants. Smaller groups may also need another generator when potential microphones are in different directions.
Can I keep it in a pocket or bag?
This is not recommended during use. Covering the speaker weakens the masking sound. Place the generator openly, as close as possible to the speakers.
Where should I place it?
Usually on the table between participants. If a likely microphone location is known, one generator can be placed closer to it and another between speakers, as illustrated in the manual.
What powers it, and how long does it run?
The manufacturer manual specifies a 9 V battery and approximately 5–10 hours of operation. Runtime depends on the battery and use; replace the battery when depleted.
Is it guaranteed that a recording cannot be cleaned up?
There is no such guarantee for every situation. Microphone type and position, speaking volume and audio processing affect the outcome. Check your arrangement with a test recording before an important conversation.
